The College of DuPage men’s and women’s cross country teams competed at the St. Francis University XC Invitational at Channahon Park on Aug. 30. They competed against the University of Chicago, St Ambrose, University of St. Francis, Trinity Christian College, Dominican University, Governors State University, Joliet Junior College, Waubonsee Community College, Moraine Valley Community College and Morton College in a five-kilometer race.
On the women’s side, sophomore Carmen Solis led the Chaparrals placing 25 overall with a time of 20.18.8. Sophomore Alexandra Abood, freshman Maureen Bluemle, and freshman Briana Pelligrini finished 49, 50, and 53 overall with times of 22:15.8, 22:34 and 22:43.3 respectively. Freshman Samantha Blankenship rounded out the top five scores with a time of 24:28.3. The women’s team finished fifth with 176 points.
On the men’s side, sophomore Kevin Diederich and freshman Miguel Capulin finished 17 and 36 overall finishing with times of 16:05.5 and 16:12.4. Sophomore Addisu Wolski placed 62 overall running 16:31.4. Freshman Jack Schulz placed 93 overall with a time of 16:38.8. Sophomore Patrick Hohe rounded out the top five with a time of 17:01.5. The men’s team finished fifth with 128 points.
The team will travel to the Northwestern Medicine Cross Country course in Geneva Ill. to compete in the Spartan Classic hosted by Aurora University on Sept. 14.
