Chaparral Fitness Center free for full-time students

Starting this fall, College of DuPage will offer free membership for full-time students to the Chaparral Fitness Center.
The expanded fitness facility, as seen in a promotional video above, reopened earlier this year after the $24-million renovation of the PE Center.
According to the college’s website, students enrolled in at least 12 credit hours are eligible for a semester-long free membership. Part-time students can receive a discounted rate of $50 per semester or a yearly rate of $12 per month. Students should bring a student ID and a copy of their class schedule to verify their eligibility.
Members of the community must pay $396 annually for usage of the fitness center.
Last February, the COD board of trustees increased tuition and student fees by 2.9 percent. Administration officials said then that free student memberships to the fitness center partially justified the student activity fee increase.
