Board puts Breuder on administrative leave
Joseph Collins to serve as interim president

College of DuPage’s board of trustees voted 4-3 to place President Robert Breuder on administrative leave Thursday evening. The board also appointed Joseph Collins as acting interim president.
As part of the administrative leave, Breuder will cease all duties as president of the college. Breuder is also banned from stepping onto campus without the consent of new Chairwoman Kathy Hamilton.
Collins, COD’s executive vice president under Breuder’s administration, expressed appreciation to the board in placing their confidence in him to serve as interim president.
“I look forward to continuing to work with all of you to carry out our mission of being a center for excellence in teaching, learning, and cultural experiences by providing an accessible, affordable and comprehensive education for the benefit of the students and communities that we serve,” Collins said in an email statement sent to college employees.
Breuder has been in the public eye after the controversial approval of a $763,000 severance package for his retirement in March 2016. In April, voters elected three “Clean Slate” candidates who ran on a platform of “ending the Breuder era of corruption.”
