College of DuPage President Robert Breuder will start an “approved medical leave” Wednesday, according to an email announcement.

The college did not elaborate on who authorized the medical leave or what ailment Breuder had.

Breuder has been in the public eye after the controversial approval of a $763,000 severance package for his retirement in March 2016. In April, voters elected three “Clean Slate” candidates who ran on a platform of “ending the Breuder era of corruption.”

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
