The Chaparrals (14-9) Men’s Basketball team played against Bryant & Stratton College (17-7) on Feb. 5 after the women’s team played their match.
Before warmups, COD was awarded the Silver Award in the 2024-25 Ron Case Cup which awards two-year schools that have the best performing athletic departments.
The game started soon after the awards ceremony. While the Bobcats took an early lead, DuPage was not that far behind. At halftime, the score was 44-23, giving the Chaps a chance to come back into this game during the later half.
After halftime, though, the Bobcats completely took over the game and sent COD to defense. Bryany & Stratton controlled the boards almost the entire second half while the Chaps struggled to get any shots in. DuPage lost 49-82, putting their record at 14-10.
Head coach Joe Kuhn talked about his team’s performance and shooting struggles.
”Early in the game, our effort was really good. Our defensive effort was good,” Kuhn said. “We got hurt on offense, rebounding and about six kickout threes on offensive rebounding. Those are backbreakers and again, we didn’t shoot the ball well.”
Kuhn said the Chaps planned to find a way out of their shooting slump.
”We’ve not been shooting the ball well now for a number of games,” Kuhn said. ”At the end of the day, you’ve got to score more points, so we’ve got to fix that.”
The Chaparrals’ next home game is against Harry S. Truman College (4-14) on Feb. 14 at 1 p.m.
