The College of DuPage hosted the first NJCAA National Volleyball Championship at PEC Arena from April 23 to April 25. After the first NJCCA National Invitational Tournament in 2023, the NJCAA board approved men’s volleyball to become a championship sport in June 2025. The championship featured eight teams in a double elimination bracket. After the College of DuPage men’s volleyball team won the NJCAA Invitational Tournament in 2025, they went into the tournament hoping to win the title.
As the number one seed in the bracket the Chaparrals faced number eight seeded Monroe University Bronx. They swept them 3-0 with scores of 3-0 25-15, 25-15 and 25-13.
The Chaparrals would face number five seeded Finger Lakes Community College the following day, where the Lakers came in strong in the first two sets. COD lost 1-3 with scores of 17-25, 22-25, 25-19 and 20-25.
On the final day the Chaparrals faced Nassau Community College for the third place title. COD was able to regain their momentum and defeat the Lions 3-0 with scores of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21.
Finger Lakes Community College won the first NJCAA volleyball title against Ocean Community College 3-1 with scores of 25-15, 25-17, 20-25 and 25-20.
At the end of the championship, sophomore Danny Overlin and freshman Max McDermott were awarded the NJCAA Men’s Volleyball Championship All-Tournament Team.
The Chaparrals finished with a 29-3 record and finished third in the first national championship.
