The College of DuPage men’s basketball (16-10) played on Feb. 14 against the Harry S. Truman College Falcons (5-16). The Chaps held the lead for all of the game, carrying the team to victory with a 96-73 final score.
Early on, the two teams fought for control of the court, with DuPage taking and extending the lead. Despite the Chaps having difficulties executing free throws, they held on until halftime, entering the last two quarters with the score being 47-33.
When second half started, the Chaps didn’t look back. Their lead extended and their free shooting improved. The Falcons did try their best to keep up, but DuPage kept forging ahead. The final score rested at 96-73, putting the Chaps’ record at 16-11.
After the game, head coach Joe Kuhn talked about the team’s performance as well as their early struggles with free throws. Kuhn also talked about the team’s effort and how it was challenging playing with some injured players gone.
“Today was a really good effort,” he said. “We had five guys not playing because of injuries. And so we played a short rotation for most of the game and I thought we battled pretty hard.”
Kuhn said the team is working hard preparing for playoffs..
“We just just want to try to make sure that we play well here, keep getting better as a group and get ready for playoff time,” he said.
The Chaps will play Sophomore Day and their last home game of the regular season Feb. 17, at 7:00 p.m. against the South Suburban College Bulldogs (23-5), then hit the road to Crystal Lake, IL to play the McHenry County College Scots (10-16) on Feb. 21, at 3:00 p.m. Playoffs schedule and times have yet to be released.
