To say The Courier has covered a variety of stories is an understatement. From the ongoing board of trustees saga to the latest in pop music, we’ve covered a copious amount of topics. With that in mind, we chose eight of our favorite stories, columns and editorials from this semester, in no particular order.

1. Swipe Left: A college freshman tries out Tinder for the first time ever

We all know the popular location-based app isn’t the best dating platform out there. The Courier’s features editor, a college freshman, decided to try it out anyways.

2. Editorial: The students’ place

The return of the editorial at The Courier couldn’t come at a better time. The first editorial of the semester warned contrarianism was not serving the students, as the fallout from college President Robert Breuder’s appeal for $20 million in state funding continued.

3. Faculty vote no confidence in President Breuder

In September, the full-time faculty senate voted no confidence in the college president, citing the fallout over Breuder’s appeal for state funding and years of “fear and intimidation” on campus.

4. Azealia Banks delivers on delayed album

Rapper and singer Azealia Banks surprised everyone in November after she dropped her album without warning. The Courier gave Banks a very positive review.

5. Up in the Air: Courier editors try indoor skydiving

Two Courier editors tried out indoor skydiving at iFLY in Naperville, Ill. Of course, we got it on tape.

6. Alex and Sierra showcase their own sound

Colbie Caillat was the headliner at the MAC’s season premiere, but opening duo Alex and Sierra really made a solid impression with their laid-back approach and music.

7. Editorial: Little college on the prairie

The final editorial of the semester called on the college to preserve its prairies on campus.

8. Chaps endure 52-6 loss at COD’s first homecoming game in 40 years

Yeah, it was pretty embarrassing.
