Going into this doubleheader on April 23, the College of DuPage Chaparrals were on a two game winning streak having beaten Joliet Junior College 12-6 on April 21.
Game one started at 2 p.m. with DuPage getting on the scoreboard early with a three-run first inning, followed by three more in the second.
Highland got on the board in the fourth with one run, then added three in the next inning. The Chaps responded with one run in the bottom half of the fifth. That would be the last run of the game, finishing with a 7-4 win for DuPage.
Game two shortly followed after. Just like in game one, DuPage scored three runs in the first inning but then the Cougars scored four in the top of the second. The Chaps then swiftly responded by putting in seven runs in the bottom half of the second.
Highland could only put in one run in the top of the third, with DuPage scoring two in the bottom half of the third. Highland once again tried to keep their offense going with one in the next inning, as both teams could not score for their next at-bats.
DuPage then walks it off scoring four runs in the fifth to mercy rule the game with Andrew Speh hitting the home run to end it. The Chaps won game two 16-6, putting their record at 16-18.
Following this doubleheader, they took a day off before heading to Madison, Wis. on April 25, for a doubleheader against Madison College, where they lost both, 2-8 and 5-15.
