The Folletts College of DuPage Bookstore hosted a grand re-opening March 4 after undergoing a renovation. The event included remarks by Follett President Don Germano and guest of honor, college President Robert Breuder, and a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Refreshments and cake were served as attendees mingled before the ceremony. A raffle was held and 25 names were drawn for the opportunity to win bookstore gift cards and a grand prize of a 7-inch Samsung tablet. Throughout the day, bookstore visitors were given 20 percent off all merchandise to celebrate.

When faculty and students entered the newly redesigned store they were greeted with mass amounts of open space. The bright and airy design drew crowds into the middle of the store. The renovation, priced upwards of $250,000, focused mainly on creating an organized floor plan. Graphic wall designs caught the eye of attendees, as did the new checkout area located on the opposite side of the store.

“It’s open, and it’s bright,” Breuder told The Courier. “The merchandise is first class. It makes me want to come in.”

Breuder spoke of the strong bond between the college and Follett. He believed the company holds powerful buying power and will continue to bring students the best options while staying affordable.

Overall, Breuder spoke of his pride for the college and the improvements being made.

“This is as good as it gets, as I can tell,” said Breuder in his bookstore address. “We can compete with anyone, anywhere, under any circumstances.”

Store Director James Sexton is proud of the remodel, and believes it has opened the door to even more opportunities.

“Obviously we have the textbooks, but we wanted to bring in a larger variety of merchandise,” said Sexton. “Not just clothing and gifts, but technology and supplies.”

When visiting the newly renovated bookstore, students can expect to find a spacious shop filled with a large collection of college essentials. The amount of merchandise has been expanded, providing opportunity in everything from academic finds to tech devices. The store also features a refrigerated wall where students can stop for a quick snack on their way to class.
