What I’m most excited for this spring
March 12, 2015
This past week, we turned our clocks an hour forward and saw the snow on our front lawns finally begin to melt. Spring is almost here! As temperatures begin to heat up and floral smells fill the air, I am getting more and more excited for warm weather. Here are the top four things, I am excited for this spring.
- Discover New Things in The City
Living in the suburbs of one of the busiest cities has it perks. While going to places like Navy Pier and Millenium Park may seem touristy, use the good weather to explore neighborhoods like Hyde Park, Wicker Park and Lincoln Park. Walking around, trying new foods and taking pictures is a fun way to jump start spring.
- New Music and Movies
With warmer weather in the air, it is a good time to listen to music while taking a walk through a park, or head to the movies with a few friends. In music, fans can look forward to musicians like Rihanna, Chance the Rapper and Death Cab for Cutie to release albums this spring. In movies, franchise series like “Fast and Furious” and “Divergent” will premiere sequels this spring. Fans of comedy may also enjoy movies like “Get Hard” featuring Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.
- Spring Foods
After months of denying myself of ice cream, milkshakes, and slurpees with the excuse that it was simply too cold, spring is when I can begin to indulge in all my favorite cool treats. At McDonald’s, you can get a Shamrock Shake or a Blizzard at Dairy Queen.
- Parking Wherever I Want
During the winter, if I ever have to park far away from COD’s buildings, I become filled with the dread, walking through the blistering cold. In spring, however, that same half-mile walk becomes a pleasant stroll as I enjoy fresh air, good weather and getting in some much needed exercise.
