Cinema/Chicago is hosting their 59th annual Chicago International Film Festival. The festival opened with a free block party on Oct 11 in front of the Music Box Theatre. There were plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy, from live local music, chalk drawings, CineYouth Highlights and trivia. Two films were also shown that evening: the premiere of “We Grown Now” and a screening of “Departing Seniors.” Minhal Baig, director of “We Grown Now,” and Clare Cooney, director of “Departing Seniors,” attended their respective events as special guests.
The Chicago International Film Festival runs from Oct. 11 to 22. For more information or upcoming events, check out the film festival’s online calendar.
