College of DuPage has canceled classes for the remainder of the day after receiving a bomb threat. COD students received texts and phone calls from the COD emergency system detailing the closing. The COD website has also dedicated a page to the emergency alert.

The threat was received around 6 p.m.,  just hours after the college’s mourning for the shooting at Umpqua Community College. Students and faculty participated in a moment of silence around 1 p.m. and had an opportunity to sign a banner throughout the day.

As of 10 p.m., police on the scene have given an all clear. College of DuPage will be open on Tuesday Oct. 6. Students who left their belongings behind can pick them up in a central location on campus. The location will be announced on the COD website tomorrow morning.

COD student Seth Sheppard thought that the evacuation was a fire drill until he was informed of the threat. “I’m a little nervous about going to school tomorrow,” said Sheppard.
