Name: Madeline Maracich
Sport: Basketball
Position: Guard/Forward
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Dyer, Indiana
High School: Oak Forest High School
LG: When did you start playing basketball?
MM: Third grade. It was just like a bitty ball team and I played that from third and fifth grade. Then I started getting into the AAU [Amateur Athletic Union] and the school teams and all that. My dad was the one who inspired me to play.
LG: What has been your proudest moment in basketball?
MM: Probably getting all-star for a couple of my tournaments during AAU, and winning regionals with my high school team was a really happy moment for me.
LG: What has basketball taught you about personal limits?
MM: It has definitely taught me to be strong and keep pushing, especially with my surgeries. It definitely made me who I am, a very strong individual.
LG: What is your biggest strength?
MM: My effort. I constantly keep going. I won’t give up.
LG: Who has been your biggest supporter?
MM: Definitely my parents, especially my dad. He has always been there and always pushed me.
LG: Who are some of your role models in basketball?
MM: That’s a good one. Dennis Rodman, he was a big one. He was a good rebounder. But on the female side, I love Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, all of the big ones.
LG: What are some of your favorite hobbies?
MM: I like to rescue dogs and take care of my dogs. Obviously working out and playing basketball. I also love cleaning and cooking, and trying new recipes.
LG: What are you most looking forward to this semester?
MM: Graduating. These are my last classes and I’ll have an Associate’s and be done with that. So, I’m excited.
LG: Where do you see yourself in five years?
MM: Hopefully getting an internship and working as an accountant somewhere. Or just doing my side hustles, like painting houses, cleaning. I like to dog sit. But, I don’t know, honestly.
LG: What one word best describes you?
MM: One word? Oh gosh. Strong… and calm. That’s two!
LG: Thank you very much, Madeline.
MM: Thank you!
