Name: Greg Strong
Sport: Basketball
Position: Guard
Year: Sophomore
Hometown: Aurora
High School: Glenbard North High School
Lily Goodfellow: When did you start playing basketball?
Greg Strong: I was young. I started playing when I was three or four.
LG: You led the team in steals last season. What’s your strategy for stealing the ball and making plays?
GS: I just pressure the person who brings the ball up. I pressure him to where he’s uncomfortable and turns the ball over. Also, my teammates help too. They play great defense and then I make sure I’m in the passing lanes so I can get a steal off the ball as well.
LG: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received from a coach?
GS: The best piece of advice I’ve received from a coach is don’t let one play affect the rest of the game.
LG: How do you and your teammates make practice fun?
GS: We just joke around, but also take the practice seriously. So when we take a break and get water, we make some jokes and stuff like that.
LG: Do you have any advice for younger people just starting out in basketball?
GS: Just try to work as hard as you can and get in the gym as much as you can. Get better everyday.
LG: Do you think attitude is a factor in winning?
GS: Yes, attitude is definitely a factor in winning. I think the team with the best attitude, the most aggressive attitude, is always going to win.
LG: Who has been your biggest supporter?
GS: My biggest supporters are my grandpa and my dad.
LG: What is your favorite food?
GS: My favorite food is pizza.
LG: What are some of your favorite hobbies?
GS: Some of my favorite hobbies are obviously basketball, and I like listening to music, hanging out with friends, going to basketball games, stuff like that.
LG: What one word best describes you?
GS: I would say it’s funny.
LG: Thank you very much, Greg.
GS: No problem.
