An amazingly well assembled effort, at times “Hollows” falls short on delivering fully fleshed out tracks and melodies. However, it makes up for it with relatable material, accessible melodies, and surprises for the listener which elevate the tracks.
Real Friends does not let reminiscing memories encompass their lyrical material or musical style, but carve out their own niche for independent pop punk music.
Through melodies, experimental harmonies and heart-like rhythms, “Something To Write Home About” established the foundation for the following 20 years of an entire musical genre, including offshoots.
