Blockbuster season: upcoming movies to expect on the big screen

This summer, some of the most talked about movies and sequels will be hitting the big screen. As long as new movies are coming out, there will be something to do every weekend of summer. Get ready to indulge in more popcorn and candy than you can imagine while fulfilling all of your action, romance and comedy needs.

Incredibles 2

After a painfully long 14 years, Disney seemed to finally listen to the wants and needs of their fans. The incredibly successful Incredibles (2004) left all Disney fanatics asking for more. Finally, on June 15, Incredibles 2 will be coming to theaters.

The sequel will include all of the familiar super heroes from its past, but it will also introduce several new friends and foes. Not too much else is known about the movie, so the best way to find out is simply to head to the theaters. It is bound to be a huge success.

Like most Disney-Pixar films, the movie is rated PG, though it seems more adults than children are looking forward to this sequel.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Star Wars is one of the most commercially successful movie franchises to date. While this movie is a prequel, it does take place in the Star Wars universe. It will feature a young Han Solo and other familiar characters like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian.

The movie, at two hours and 15 minutes, is rated PG-13 and will be released to the public on May 25.

Ocean’s 8

Acting as a spin-off to the popular Ocean’s Trilogy that featured the popular Ocean’s 11, this heist-comedy will enter theaters June 8.

The film is based around Debbie Ocean, sister to Danny Ocean from Ocean’s 11, and she is ready to pull off one of the biggest stunts ever seen: robbing the celebrity-filled Met Gala. Before going through with the biggest heist yet, she must form a group of sly and cunning women to get the job done.

Several big names can be found in this movie, including: Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and Rihanna. This movie is perfect for anyone seeking a bit of suspense, thrill and a comedy thrown in the mix.

Hereditary

Scary movie fans: this is just what you have been waiting for. People are already predicting this to be the scariest movie of the year.

Hereditary, also releasing on June 8, is rated R for the various instances of violence and horror. The movie tells the story of the Graham family, who are left to deal with the terrifying secrets of their family’s history. With the more they discover, the stranger and scarier their lives get.

This movie is a psychological horror that will leave many feeling scared hours after leaving the theater.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Chris Pratt and Jeff Goldblum are back for the fifth installment of the Jurassic Park film series and the second part of the Jurassic World trilogy. Hitting theaters June 22, the story will take place on Isla Nublar after the fall of the Jurassic World theme park. For three years, dinosaurs have been roaming the island freely.

The characters of the movie must work together to create a dinosaur rescue organization to restore order on the island. Problems arise when a new hybrid dinosaur begins to cause destruction to the human population.
